I had been looking forward to Allison and Dariusz’s wedding for 2 years… Then COVID struck and their dream wedding that was to be held at the Brookfield Zoo got postponed, then canceled. Their wedding day looked a little different than what they had originally planned… however, it was just as beautiful. Dariusz’s mom could not attend due to being in Poland but she was near just the same. Allison and Dariusz video chatted with her throughout the day so she wouldn’t miss out on her son marrying the girl of his dreams <3 The first look and wedding ceremony was held at St. Albert The Great Catholic Church. During the first look, Allison’s mom, Linda played a little harmless joke on the groom. Linda and I had him thinking she was Allison and boy were he surprised when he turned around to find his mother-in-law instead of his bride.

After the ceremony, we headed to Maple Lake for some bridal portrait fun. We were all watching the weather because as luck would have it, a storm was approaching. We got lucky and were able to shoot fast and make the most of the time mother nature allowed us. The rain had just started as we were headed to their backyard reception which was hosted by Allison’s mom and dad. Their backyard was transformed into a beautiful space for the bride and groom to celebrate with their guest. It was intimate, beautiful and so much fun! These two beautiful souls have gone through so much while planning their dream wedding. But after all, was said and done, I don’t think they would have changed a thing. The love that these two were surrounded by was breathtaking.

I wanna give a special shout out to the bridal party, especially the best man and maid of honor. They just brought so much joy to the day. Thank you to all of them for helping me throughout the day and for making me feel so welcomed and like one of the family <3

In traditional Polish weddings, the father of the groom makes Cytrynowka (lemon vodka) and places a bottle on each table for the guests.
