I am so excited to share some highlights from Taylor & Peter’s wedding celebration at Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum Wedding. It was a beautiful Autumn day and the atmosphere in the Second City Room at Hotel Lincoln where Taylor and her bridesmaids were getting ready was relaxed and upbeat. Everyone was excited to be a part of this special day and most importantly to have FUN! Taylor and Peter’s one desire on this day was to spend the day with the people that mattered the most to them. Family and friends traveled from all across the country to spend the weekend with this sweet couple.

They exchanged vows at St. Michael Catholic Church. If you have never been to St. Michael, I highly recommend you attend a service there. The church is one of the most beautiful Catholic Churches in Chicago. Sadly, Taylor’s father recently passed away. His presence however was felt throughout the day. Taylor and Peter and the family were honored that Bishop Bob Lombardo was saying a mass in his honor. At Peggy Notebaert, the wedding favor was a beautiful note with a penny attached. I capture so many details on a wedding day but this detail stopped me in my tracks. I read the note Taylor had written about her dad and his love for Scratch-off tickets. A tradition that Taylor and her dad enjoyed for many years before his passing. Family members were also looped in the tradition at Christmas time. A white elephant present from Taylor’s dad was a subject stuffed with tickets. So in lieu of a larger wedding favor, Taylor and Peter placed a scratch-off ticket in the back of the note cards and attached a penny for each of their guests to have a little fun in her father’s memory and maybe, if they were lucky, a winning scratch-off ticket. I took a notecard home and I and my little one scratched it off together. We Won! A $1 but that win lit up my little boy’s face. He has never won anything before and this was a moment I got to share with him. He now wants me to buy more scratch-offs so we can scratch and try and win again. A new tradition might just have started and all because of a beautiful remembrance of a loved one.

Taylor & Peter and with the help of The Simply Elegant Group planned an absolutely amazing day full of personality and fun! Usually, on a wedding day, the bride and groom and the wedding party don’t have that much downtime except during the reception. Taylor and Peter wanted something a bit different. They wanted to fully enjoy their day and spend as much time having fun with their wedding party as possible. After our portrait session at Lincoln Park Boardwalk, we ended up all going to Corcoran’s Grill & Pub for drinks and appetizers. I snapped so many beautiful moments between Taylor and Peter and their best friends.

The reception at Peggy Notebaert was done up so elegantly. The live band played new and old hits and had all the guests jammed packed on the dance floor! Guest cheered and clapped and jumped and laughed for hours. People sang to their favorite songs and circled Taylor and Peter as they danced the night away. It was a perfect evening and the day had gone off as planned. I have had so much fun getting to know Taylor and Peter this last year. I am as honored as always to have been a part of their incredible day. I hope they are enjoying their honeymoon and can’t wait for them to see this blog in their honor <3
