Reflecting on a Transformative Year

As 2024 comes to an end, I find myself looking back on a year that was as challenging as it was rewarding. It was a year of personal growth, family milestones, and career highlights that reminded me of the resilience it takes to persevere and the beauty that can be found in the journey. From navigating unexpected hurdles to celebrating incredible wins, this year has been nothing short of transformative.

Overcoming Challenges and Embracing Growth

The year began with an unexpected injury in January, one that tested my strength and determination. There were moments I wondered how I would make it through one of the busiest seasons of my career, but pushing through those difficult days taught me the power of perseverance. Despite the challenges, I had the honor of photographing some of the most stunning weddings and love stories of my career.

This year brought me to iconic venues like the Congress Hotel, Union League Club of Chicago, and The LaSalle Hotel Chicago, where I captured timeless moments for amazing couples. Each wedding was a reminder of why I love what I do—being trusted to document the most important day of someone’s life is a privilege I never take for granted.

Another professional highlight was seeing my work featured in Wezoree, Chicago Style Weddings, and CHI thee WED. These publications validated the hard work and creativity I pour into every project, and I’m incredibly proud to have my art recognized in this way.

Celebrating Family and Personal Growth

While my business thrived, this year also brought challenges and triumphs within my family. My husband’s shift change at work made it difficult to find balance as a couple and as parents, but together, we found ways to adapt. We leaned on each other, stayed committed to our family, and came out stronger than ever.

My daughter faced her own challenges with a health condition that impacted her school and social life. Watching her navigate these obstacles with grace and strength was one of the most inspiring parts of this year. With the support of her incredible community, she’s thriving and on track to graduate in 2025—a milestone we can’t wait to celebrate.

Meanwhile, my boys have grown so much this year. They’ve taken on new responsibilities and stepped up in ways that have amazed me. From helping out around the house to supporting me as I juggle my work schedule, their growth, and maturity have been one of the greatest gifts of 2024.

It was also a joy to be part of so many personal milestones, like capturing Alex and Nick’s adventurous engagement session at the Aurora airport and reconnecting with past clients like Sam and Ben for their maternity session.
