When Alex and Nick began planning their engagement session, they knew they wanted it to reflect their unique love story. Nick, a professional pilot, spends much of his time in the skies, so it was only fitting that they chose to incorporate aviation into their shoot. Their vision brought us to the Aurora Airport on a brisk November day, where the couple’s adventurous spirit took center stage alongside a 140-small plane.
I love it when couples incorporate meaningful activities into their engagement sessions—it makes the photos so much more personal and memorable. For Alex and Nick, aviation isn’t just Nick’s career; it’s a shared part of their journey. The sleek plane served as a stunning prop, but more importantly, it symbolized their connection and the adventures they shared.
The November weather gave us a moody, dramatic backdrop that added depth and character to the shoot. Though it was chilly and breezy, Alex and Nick embraced the elements, bringing warmth and joy to every frame. The soft, diffused light from the overcast skies created a romantic atmosphere, perfectly complementing their love story.
What made this session truly special was how Alex and Nick thought outside the box to personalize it. Incorporating something as significant as Nick’s career and passion elevated the shoot from beautiful to deeply meaningful. It’s a reminder that engagement photos can (and should!) reflect the unique journey of each couple.

I take on a limited number of weddings each year to ensure a deeply personalized experience. If you’re planning a wedding in Chicago or the Midwest and want photography that feels intentional, supportive, and emotionally true to your day, I’d love to hear about what you’re imagining.
