A Beautiful Proposal – Why Your Photographer Should Be There From “Yes” to “I Do

There’s something truly magical about photographing a proposal. The anticipation, the emotion, the moment that changes everything. Last week, I had the absolute honor of capturing Scott’s surprise proposal to Emily at a quiet little beach in Evanston, Illinois. It was sweet, intimate, and full of joy. The kind of moment you want to relive again and again.

While the location was beautiful, what really stood out was the connection between these two. Their love was effortless, and witnessing such a genuine reaction from Emily reminded me why I do what I do.

I often get asked if I offer proposal photography and the answer is a resounding yes. In fact, many of my couples who hire me for their proposal end up booking me for their engagement session and wedding day as well. Why? Because by the time we reach their wedding day, we’ve already built a relationship. We’ve laughed together, celebrated together, and shared a few nerves. By then, I’m not just showing up as their photographer. I’m showing up as someone they already trust and feel completely at ease with.

And that comfort shows in the photos.
